Committed or Participant?
1% or 99.99% is still NOT 100%
Total Commitment = 100%
No If or But
Participant = 1% - 99.99% Can quit anytime
Commitment - a pledge to fulfill, an obligation, to obligate ourselves to a cause.
Synonyms: responsibility, pledge, promise, vow, resolution, determination.
Luke 9-23-25 "Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?"
Total Commitment To God
The Young Man in Matthew 19:20-22
This young man was not totally committed financially – he cared more for his money than he did the Lord.
The Problem With Commitment Is It’s Always Conditional
We are good in making excuses:
1. Why me? Let others do it.
2. I can’t - I’m not capable.
3. I’m busy – “next time na lang”
4. Don’t care - don’t see the need.
Things we are to be committed to:
1. Committed to God
Matthew 22:37-38 “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment”
2. Committed to Other People
Matthew 22: 39-40 “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
3. Committed to our Church Family
John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 John 4:20 “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can[a] he love God whom he has not seen?
Galatians 6: 10 ”Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
Hebrews 13:1 “Let brotherly love continue.”
4. Commitment To The Cause
Ephesians 3:1 “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles.”
- Winning Soul
- Reaching Out to the Needy
- Holy living
The Challenge
