Excuse Me
No such thing as Partial Commitment or Total Commitment
It’s either you’re Committed or Not Committed
Are You Committed or Spectator?
Commitment - a pledge to fulfil, an obligation, to obligate ourselves to a cause.
Synonyms: responsibility, vow, resolution, determination.
The problem with commitment is it’s always conditional
We are good in making excuses
Jesus gave a parable to combat excuse making.
They were invited to "the great feast, but they all with one accord began to make excuse.
Excuses We Make
1. The first made an excuse regarding possessions
Vs. 18 “I bought a piece of land and I must go and see it. So please excuse me.
2. The second made an excuse in the realm of business or work.
Vs. 19 “I have bought five yoke of oxen and I am going to test it, so please excuse me”
3. The third made his excuse concerning family/ relationships
Vs. 20 “I have married a wife, and therefore cannot come…So please excuse me”
The challenge for us is the tendency to misrepresent commitment
Commitment can be circumstantial
The problem is when Commitment is conditional on circumstances & time
God will not accept any of our excuses
Vs 24 “For I say unto you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper”
God’s Requirement is plain and simple
Count the cost
Vs. 27 “And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be my disciple”
Vs. 33 “So likewise whoever of you does not forsake ALL THAT HE HAS cannot be my disciple”
