What keeps men from following Christ?

• Following Christ is not an EMOTION
• Following Christ is not an EVENT
• Following Christ is not a SEASONAL

It’s a WAY OF LIFE…It’s a self-denial, self-sacrifice and self-submission.

It’s a LIFETIME commitment….it’s because of its INFINITE VALUE that’s why we follow Christ

3 Reasons why men/women failed to follow Christ

1. Personal Comforts

• 1st Person is a Scribe (v57)
• mentioned in Matthew 8:19
• This Person would like to ADD Jesus from what he already has

2. Personal Possessions

• 2nd Person is one of the followers or disciple to-be. (v.59)
• This person is half-hearted. He can’t follow Jesus without financial security.
• Their mind is set on earthly things.” Philippians 3:19b

3. Personal Relationships

• 3rd Person is one of the crowds (v.61)
• Who volunteered to follow Christ but with condition…FAMILY

None of these 3 Persons followed Christ

Willingness is the real issue… a total surrender and total submission

If you offer of your everything to Christ, that is your affirmation of his Lordship to your life

It may cost us a lot but the infinite value is eternal life.
